Enameled Brass Champlevé Pendant

$85

This unusual pendant is made from a vintage brass salt cellar holder that features an ornate enameled design in blue, red, green, and white.

Description

This unusual pendant is made from a vintage brass salt cellar holder that features an ornate enameled design in blue, red, green, and white. It measures 2in X 2in. A tiny cut glass salt bowl would sit inside the hold in the center. If you look at the back, you can see its round ball feet!

The back features a stamped swirl design.

These salt cellars are mostly European, usually coming from France, Russia, and Turkey, and can be pretty old – some go back to the early 1900s! The brass was stamped by machine, and then an artist would fill all the depressions with colorful combinations of glass enamel. This style of enameling was known as champleve.

To make the pendant, I carefully drilled a hol. Since this is a real vintage item, there may be a few scratches and scuffs, or some minor chipping and crazing of the enamel. Consider it part of its vintage charm!

A 17″-18″ ribbon/cord necklace is included. If you would like a different color/style of necklace – see the last photo for available colors and styles – please put the color you want in the “Message to Seller” section. I have a limited selection of longer lengths available, please convo me if you need something longer!
